You will learn many lifelong skills as you continue your journey in scouts. Some of those  skills will be how to correctly give CPR and become CPR certified , how to become and expand your knowledge of what it is like becoming an outdoorsman, alo ng many other skills.  If you want to join scouts, you  must meet the requirements of being 10 years old and completing second grade when you join.  If you want to  join scouts but are unsure of where to join a troop ,   y ou could  ask  if your local church has a troop that you could join or ask your fr iend if they are already in a

Wilderness survival training

Wilderness survival training     Today I’m going to tell you about Wilderness survival training. The idea is that this training should  teach you how to  survive in the wilderness with little to no camping gear in the event that you get stranded. This actually reminds me of what of my favorite books growing up  called “Hatchet”. In that story a young teenage boy  was in a plane crash and he alone survived and basically the only tool he has is a hatchet and he has to survive.  So, for my merit badge training, I did not have to survive a plane crash, but I did have to survive a night in the woods with no tent and just a few items. It was the summer, so it was supposed to be warm, but it was also very buggy .   There were not a lot of campers that were g oing on this overnight  required for the merit badge  exp erience .  We only had a limited amount of supplies we could bring.  We were recommended to build a lean - to  structure  for this  overnight camping   experience .  Everything w

It requires   meticulous   attention  to detail at times  and tenacity to not give up.   However,  the  eventual outcome of staying on this path   is  extrem ely  rewarding .  There are many clubs and sports that you may have begun when you were 8 or 10 years old that you may drop as you grow up.  Many kids drop out of Scouts along the way  because not  every meeting or every campout is so much  fun  and I guess they get bored . The difference is that i f  your goal is to become an Eagle Scout, you  h ave to   stay  the course. Along this journey ,  you  will learn many lifelong  skills. You will learn skills such as  CPR, survival in the  wilderness,  and   cooking and camping in the wilderness  that  will be useful for you the rest of your life .  The main requirement to  getting  to Eagle is earning 21 merit badges. A merit badge is like a mini class that you complete
